Big River RCMP seizes 495 grams of cocaine and 306 grams of methamphetamine from vehicle in Big River

seized approximately 495 grams of cocaine, approximately 306 grams of methamphetamine, 111 LSD blotters, approximately 63 grams of an unknown substance investigators suspect to contain fentanyl, and other drug paraphernalia

On December 20, 2023 at approximately 3:30 p.m., Big River RCMP performed a proactive traffic stop in the town of Big River. The vehicle did not initially stop for police, but eventually parked at a residence.

Investigation determined the driver of the vehicle had a suspended license and no vehicle registration. He also provided a false name to officers.

As a result of continuing investigation, officers located and seized approximately 495 grams of cocaine, approximately 306 grams of methamphetamine, 111 LSD blotters, approximately 63 grams of an unknown substance investigators suspect to contain fentanyl, and other drug paraphernalia in the vehicle.

The driver and the passenger of the vehicle were arrested at the scene.

40-year-old Wilson Coutts and 37-year-old Marcia McMahon both from Big River, are each charged with:

  • one count, possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine, Section 5(2), Controlled Drugs and Substances Act;
  • one count, possession for the purpose of trafficking methamphetamine, Section 5(2), Controlled Drugs and Substances Act;
  • one count, possession for the purpose of trafficking, Section 5(2), Controlled Drugs and Substances Act; and
  • one count, possession of the proceeds of crime under $5000, Section 354(1)(a), Criminal Code.

Wilson Coutts was also charged with one count, identity fraud, Section 403, Criminal Code and one count, resist/obstruct peace officer, Section 129(a), Criminal Code. He also received several traffic tickets.

Marcia McMahon was also arrested on an outstanding warrant from Big River RCMP for failing to attend court.

Wilson Coutts and Marcia McMahon are both scheduled to appear in Prince Albert Provincial Court on December 22.
