Items seized

On April 29, 2023, at approximately 3:20 am, Selkirk RCMP were on patrol on Main Street in Selkirk when an officer noticed a black SUV with five occupants driving at night with no lights on. A traffic stop was initiated by the officer. When the officer went to present the written warning for not having the lights on, the officer noticed open alcohol in the vehicle, and at that time, a search was initiated.

A search of the vehicle revealed a sawed off rifle and pepper spray.

The driver of the vehicle, a 40-year-old female from Selkirk, received the written warning in relation to the lights. Rear passenger Chad Langlois, 38, from Selkirk, was taken into custody and charged with Possession of Firearm Contrary to Order x3 and Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm. He remains in custody.

The investigation continues.
