As a result of continued investigation by Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes, an adult male was arrested on October 10, 2023 in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan in relation to the October 1 homicide that took place in Deschambault Lake.

27-year-old Tristan Custer of Deschambault Lake, Saskatchewan has been charged with one count of second degree murder, Section 235(1), Criminal Code.

Tristan Custer is schedule to appear in La Ronge Provincial Court on October 16, 2023 at 9:30 a.m.

Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes investigating homicide in Deschambault Lake

2023-10-04

On October 1, 2023 at approximately 11:15 p.m., Deschambault Lake RCMP received a report of an injured person on a street in Deschambault Lake.

Officers immediately responded and located a deceased male youth. He has been identified as a 17-year-old from Deschambault Lake. His family has been notified and victim services made available to them.

As a result of initial investigation, Deschambault Lake RCMP attended a residence in the community. A female youth was arrested in relation to the death of the 17-year-old male. An adult male was also arrested on warrants from Deschambault Lake for charges including assault with a weapon.

The adult male was suffering from injuries from a separate assault, which is now under investigation by the Deschambault Lake RCMP, and was taken to hospital with injuries described as serious in nature.

Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes took carriage of the investigation into the 17-year-old's death.

As a result, the female youth, who can't be identified as per the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is charged with one count of second degree murder, Section 235(1), Criminal Code.

She is scheduled to appear in court in Deschambault Lake on October 4, 2023.

Major Crimes continues to investigate and additional charges are pending.
