Investigative Recap

November 21: Kindersley RCMP executed a search warrant at a residence in Major, SK as part of an ongoing investigation.

Officers located and seized approximately 215 grams of suspected methamphetamine, three firearms, ammunition and trafficking paraphernalia in the residence. An adult male was arrested at the residence.

41-year-old Willis William Kostiuk from Major, Saskatchewan is charged with 23 offences including possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of the proceeds of crime and possessing a firearm when prohibited.

He was remanded into custody until his next scheduled court appearance on November 29, 2023.

November 21: Saskatchewan RCMP's North Battleford Crime Reduction Team (CRT) determined 27-year-old Tracy Wright, who was wanted by Rocky Mountain House RCMP for a number of firearm and other offences, was in a residence in North Battleford. Officers obtained a warrant, entered the residence and located and arrested her. They also located and arrested 27-year-old Lane Wuttunee, who was wanted by Battlefords RCMP for failing to comply with a release order, and 48-year-old Richard Lightfoot, who was wanted by Battlefords RCMP for break and enter.

Wright was transported to Alberta for court.

Lightfoot is scheduled to appear in North Battleford Provincial Court on December 1, 2023.

Wuttunee is scheduled to appear in North Battleford Provincial Court on December 18, 2023.

Background: The Saskatchewan Enforcement Response Team (SERT) consists of Saskatchewan RCMP's Crime Reduction Teams (CRT) and Warrant Enforcement Suppression Team (WEST), as well as the Saskatchewan Trafficking Response Team (STRT). SERT will help the Saskatchewan RCMP continue to fulfil its mandate as the province's police force – keeping our communities safe.

November 21: Rosthern RCMP investigating collision near Duck Lake

November 22: At approximately 1:10 p.m., a member of Saskatchewan RCMP's Roving Traffic Unit attempted a traffic stop on Highway #16 near Maidstone.

The vehicle did not stop and fled at a speed of approximately 220 km/hr.

Battlefords RCMP, Gang Task Force and Crime Reduction Team immediately began working to locate the vehicle. Investigation determined the vehicle had stopped briefly outside a business off of Highway #16. Officers searched the area and located a duffle bag containing three semi-automatic firearms, one long gun and approximately 45 grams of cocaine.

Officers later observed a tow truck hauling the suspect vehicle. They conducted a traffic stop and arrested the passengers.

As a result of investigation, 19-year-old Damon Lafleur from Surrey, BC and 20-year-old Brianne Quinn from Langley, BC are each charged with:

  • one count, unlicensed possession of a firearm with ammunition, Section 95(2), Criminal Code;
  • seven counts, unlicensed possession of a firearm/ammunition, Section 91(3), Criminal Code;
  • four counts, careless transport of a firearm, Section 86(1), Criminal Code;
  • three counts, knowingly occupy a vehicle with firearm, Section 94(2), Criminal Code;
  • one count, unlicensed possession of a prohibited weapon, Section 92(3), Criminal Code;
  • four counts, carry concealed weapon, Section 90(2), Criminal Code;
  • one count, possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine, Section 5(2), Controlled Drugs and Substances Act; and
  • one count, possession of the proceeds of crime under $5,000, Section 354(1)(a), Criminal Code.

Brianna Quinn is also charged with one count, fail to stop for peace officer, Section 320.17, Criminal Code and one count, operate a conveyance in a manner dangerous to the public, Section 320.13(1), Criminal Code.

Brianne Quinn and Damon Lafleur appeared in North Battleford Provincial Court on November 24, 2023 (Information 90505698 and 90505700).

November 23: Prince Albert RCMP investigating fatal rollover

November 24: At approximately 11:45 p.m., Humboldt RCMP received a report of a robbery at a business on 9th Street in Humboldt. Officers immediately responded. Investigation determined an individual entered the business, threatened an occupant and attempted to rob them. The individual fled without stealing anything. No physical injuries were reported.

Through continued investigation, Humboldt RCMP identified a suspect vehicle and located it parked outside a residence in Humboldt. An adult male was arrested without incident at the residence. A second adult male was later arrested without incident in Middle Lake.

37-year-old Kriston Lins of Middle Lake and 40-year-old Ryan Dempster from Humboldt are each charged with:

  • one count, robbery, Section 344, Criminal Code;
  • one count uttering threats, Section 264.1(1)(a), Criminal Code; and
  • one count, wear disguise with intent to commit offence, Section 351(2), Criminal Code.

They are scheduled to appear in Saskatoon Provincial Court on November 27, 2023.

November 24: La Ronge CRT seizes loaded gun, cocaine, and trafficking paraphernalia during search warrant

November 24: Waskesiu/Montreal Lake RCMP investigating firearms-related incident

November 25: At approximately 7:30 a.m., Yorkton RCMP responded to a single vehicle collision at the intersection of Broadway Street and Agriculture Avenue in Yorkton, Saskatchewan.

The adult male driver and sole occupant of the vehicle was declared deceased in hospital. He has been identified as a 66-year-old male from the Yorkton, Saskatchewan area. His family has been notified.

Yorkton RCMP continues to investigate with the assistance of a Saskatchewan RCMP collision reconstructionist and the Saskatchewan Coroners Service.

November 25: Battlefords RCMP asks public to report information on the whereabouts of Harry Bekkattla

November 25: Cut Knife RCMP seeking information on fatal collision involving pedestrian

November 26: At approximately 4:12 a.m., La Loche RCMP received a report of an armed individual at a residence in La Loche.

Officers immediately responded. Investigation determined an armed male was holding two females against their will in the residence. One of them was able to flee the house.

While officers were setting up a containment area around the house, the male exited the residence. Officers arrested him and seized a handgun.

Officers located the other female inside the residence. Investigation determined she had been assaulted and she was taken to hospital with injuries described as serious in nature.

As a result of further investigation. 28-year-old Tremaine Dacres is charged with 19 offences including aggravated assault and forcible confinement.

He has been remanded into custody until his next scheduled court appearance in La Loche on December 4, 2023.
