Placentia RCMP responds to report of irate man in possession of a firearm in Jerseyside

Following multiple reports of an irate man in possession of a firearm who was attempting to break into a number of residences in Jerseyside on Saturday, Placentia RCMP arrested and charged 28-year-old Sherlock Stacey.

At approximately 5:00 a.m. on January 7, 2023, police received the initial report and responded. The suspect, Sherlock Stacey, who is prohibited from the possession of firearms, was identified and located at a residence on Fort Louis Road while attempting to break in to the home. He was arrested without incident. An imitation firearm, which was presented as being a real firearm during the reported incidents, was found during his arrest and was seized. An individual who uses an imitation firearm in the commission of a criminal offence can be charged with criminal firearms offences.

RCMP Police Dog Services were called and conducted a further search of the area.

Stacey appeared in court via teleconference over the weekend and is charged with firearms-related offences, break and enter, mischief (damage to property) and breach of probation.

Stacey remains in custody at this time and is expected to appear in court later today.

The investigation is continuing.
