On November 14, 2023, officers from Saskatchewan RCMP's Warrant Enforcement and Suppression Team (WEST), Crime Reduction Teams (CRT) and La Ronge detachment arrested John McDonnell in La Ronge.
Saskatchewan RCMP thanks the media and members of the public for their assistance.
John McDonnell will appear in La Ronge Provincial Court on November 16, 2023.

Backgrounder
Man charged and wanted in relation to La Ronge homicide
2023-11-14
As a result of continued police investigation by Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes, 24-year-old Garrett McDonnell, 35-year-old John McDonnell and 28-year-old Jared Gale, all of Lac La Ronge Indian Band, are charged with one count, manslaughter, section 236(a) of the Criminal Code, in relation to the homicide of 42-year-old Randy Halkett of Lac La Ronge Indian Band.
Prince Albert WEST and Prince Albert/Meadow Lake/La Ronge Crime Reduction Team provided assistance with locating and arresting Garrett McDonnell and Jared Gale on November 8, 2023, less than 24 hours after the initial report was received.
Garrett McDonnell appeared in La Ronge Provincial Court on November 9, 2023. His next appearance will be on November 23 at 9:30 a.m. via CCTV.
Jared Gale will appear in La Ronge Provincial Court on November 10, 2023 at 9:30 a.m.
John McDonnell has not been located and there is a warrant for his arrest. He is described as being 5'10" tall, 221 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. He may be in the communities of La Ronge and surrounding areas. If you see John McDonnell, do not approach him and contact police immediately by calling 911.
RCMP Major Crimes continues to investigate and an increased police presence will continue in the community.
