RCMP Traffic Services West stopped a driver for excessive speed on the Trans-Canada Highway near Steady Brook on September 1, 2022.

At approximately 4:00 p.m., police observed a truck, with a Sea-Doo in tow, traveling 152 km/h in a 100 km/h zone. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver, a 25-year-old man, was found towing an unregistered trailer without the proper towing connections.

The man was ticketed for the speed, expired trailer registration, and having improper towing connections. The vehicle was seized and impounded and a licence suspension was issued. The Sea-Doo was removed from the roadway.

RCMP NL continues to fulfill its mandate to protect public safety, enforce the law, and ensure the delivery of priority policing services in Newfoundland and Labrador.
