RCMP executes search warrant at Carbonear residence; Police Service Dog Grinch locates drugs

A quantity of drugs, firearms, ammunition and other items, were seized by RCMP from a residence in Carbonear on January 7, 2022.

A 38-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman were arrested on January 7, 2022, after RCMP in Harbour Grace executed a search warrant on a home in Carbonear where cash, drugs and weapons were located and seized.

On Friday, RCMP officers from the East District General Investigation Section, Police Dog Services, Harbour Grace and Bay Roberts Detachments, entered the home and conducted a search. Drugs, including a quantity of suspected fentanyl, crystal methamphetamine, cocaine and prescription pills, were located inside the residence by Police Service Dog Grinch. A quantity of cash, firearms, ammunition and a stun gun, were also located and seized.

The two individuals were later released and are scheduled to attend court at a later date. Both are facing the following charges:

  • Possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of cocaine
  • Possession of methamphetamine
  • Careless storage of ammunition
  • Possession of a prohibited weapon (stun gun)

Samples of the drugs seized, including the suspected fentanyl, are being sent for analysis and confirmation. The investigation is continuing.
