RCMP officers in Deer Lake and Corner Brook are teaming up with Transport Canada's Office of Boating Safety to ensure the safety of all those who share the water in the region this summer.

With the assistance of Bay of Islands Search and Rescue and Deer Lake Search and Rescue, police and boating safety officers from Transport Canada will be on the water throughout the summer conducting patrols. The main focus of the patrols will be to educate and enforce boating safety rules, including the use of life jackets or personal floatation devices, and the detection and enforcement of impaired operators.

Patrols will take place at various times and in various locations. Officers strive to make the water safe for all those who enjoy boating and water activities. Be sure to have all of your safety equipment on board.
