A 27-year-old man from Sainte-Marie-Saint-Raphaël, N.B., has died following a two-vehicle collision in Baie de Petit Pokemouche.
On September 22, 2022, at approximately 6:40 a.m., members of the Caraquet and Lamèque RCMP detachments, Ambulance New Brunswick and Shippagan fire department responded to a report of a two-vehicle collision on Route 113.
The collision is believed to have occurred when a pickup truck travelling southbound crossed the centerline and collided with a vehicle travelling northbound. The driver and sole occupant of the truck, a 27-year-old man, was transported to hospital in critical condition, where he later died as a result of his injuries. The driver and sole occupant of the second vehicle was transported to hospital with what are believed to be non-life threatening injuries, and has since been released.
An RCMP collision reconstructionist and a member of the New Brunswick Coroner's office are assisting with the ongoing investigation.
