Slave Lake RCMP respond to fatal collision on Highway 2 near Range Road 73 - Update

On Nov. 24, 2019, Slave Lake RCMP responded to the report of a multi-vehicle collision. As a result of that collision a 23-year-old male and 23-year-old female were pronounced deceased at the scene.

Highway 2 has since reopened in both directions.

No further information at this time as police continue to make next of kin notifications.

Slave Lake RCMP respond to fatal collision on Highway 2 near Range Road 73

On Nov. 24, 2019 at approximately 12:30 p.m., Slave Lake RCMP responded to and are on scene of a fatal collision involving a small sedan and small SUV on Highway 2 near Range Road 73 at 9 Mile bridge.

Preliminary investigation is underway as Slave Lake RCMP are assisted by the RCMP Collision Analyst.

Traffic is presently being re-routed to the secondary roadways through the Hamlets of Wide Water and Wagner. Traffic delays can be expected for several hours while Slave Lake RCMP and RCMP Collision Analyst investigate.

Our thoughts are with the families of those deceased at this time. The names of the deceased will not be released, and no further updates are available at this time.

Road conditions are described as icy, and motorists are asked to avoid the area where possible.
