Fort Saskatchewan RCMP Traffic/Crime Reduction Unit lay drug charges

On May 5, 2019, members of the Fort Saskatchewan Traffic/Crime Reduction Unit received a complaint of a theft from a motor vehicle near Walmart by an off-duty RCMP officer.

Responding members located the suspect vehicle departing the area. A traffic stop was conducted, and the investigation led to the arrest of two males. During the investigation, a quantity of suspected methamphetamine was located inside the vehicle.

As a result, 23.9 grams of suspected methamphetamine was seized, along with digital scales, packaging and currency suspected to be proceeds of crime. It is believed that these drugs were destined for sale in the Fort Saskatchewan area.

A 40-year-old male of Sturgeon County, Alta. And a 25-year-old male of Fort Saskatchewan, Alta., were charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – methamphetamine and Theft Under $5000.

Through the use of intelligence led enforcement, the Fort Saskatchewan RCMP Traffic/Crime Reduction Unit are committed to public safety and will continue to utilize crime reduction strategies to remove illegal drugs from our community.
