Cadets attend Depot for 26 weeks of basic training, known as the Cadet Training Program (CTP). This extensive course is offered in both official languages and is centred around community-based policing. The CTP continuously evolves to reflect the current needs of frontline policing.

The curriculum is designed and developed by a team that includes civilian experts in education in collaboration with subject matter experts in policing and other related content areas. The instructional design uses academically validated, research-based processes.

Throughout the CTP, cadets gain skills to build relationships with the diverse communities we serve across Canada. It is not all about books and marching: cadets learn through case studies, simulations, lectures, community interactions and most notably, scenarios.
