Being an RCMP member is not just about law enforcement, it is also about building connections in communities across the country. Members are involved in various community events throughout the year including ceremonies, coaching sports, supporting local fundraisers and more. Community connection and involvement starts here at Depot.

Depot has strong relationships with a number of organizations in our home city of Regina. We often collaborate on a variety of events and initiatives and cadets and staff participate when possible. These include the Frost Festival, Queen City Pride, the Sikh Parade and Regina Pats and Saskatchewan Roughriders games. Most recently, a new partnership with the Regina Humane Society created an opportunity for cadets to walk dogs and groom cats at the shelter.

In 2024, Depot’s long-standing partnership with the Sacred heart Community School will celebrate its 10th Anniversary! Each month, cadets go to the school to take part in their literacy nights. It gives them the chance to spend time reading and talking with younger kids in the community.

The biggest community events of the year are certainly Depot’s Sunset Ceremonies. During the summer months, Depot welcomes the public on base for a special performance. The ceremonies include a foot-drill display performed by cadets or regular members wearing scarlet tunics, historic rifle and cannon firings and the ceremonial lowering of the Canadian flag at sunset. In addition to the show, these events are a chance for Depot to acknowledge groups like first responders, the military, local charities and community groups for all they do.
