Life as a cadet at Depot means long days, lots of activity, and little spare time. For the six busy months they are here, cadets need the proper fuel and energy to both succeed and stay healthy. This is where the Division Mess comes in.

The Division Mess is the dining hall and kitchen for cadets in training. At peak efficiency, the Mess can serve 600 to 800 meals, three times a day, seven days a week. Supported by one of the finest industrial kitchens around, the Mess builds a unique and diverse menu every week. In addition to its main steam-line, the Mess also hosts a sandwich bar, salad bar, and a bakery. A number of breads and soups are made every day by hand and in-house.

For decades now, the Mess has also been ensuring those with intolerances, allergies, or cultural dietary needs are accommodated. For every meal, Kosher, Halal, gluten-free, vegan, and vegetarian options are prepared for those requiring them. While all meal options are healthy and nutritious, great care goes into ensuring the menu is tasty and not repetitive.

The Division Mess is staffed by Depot Food Services. This team of industry professionals includes a number of Red Seal chefs who craft and perfect the menu each week. Food services also includes pastry chefs, bakers, butchers, sauciers, grill/fry chefs, as well as servers and administrative staff. A day with Food Services often starts early and ends late to ensure meals are prepared, cooked, and served to the highest of standards. Outside of their weekly menu, Food Services often prepares special meals for formal events including Regimental Dinners, galas, balls, and weddings.
