Town of Cornwall and PEI RCMP Seek Public Assistance in Graffiti Vandalism Investigation

March 28, 2024
Cornwall, Prince Edward Island

News release

The Town of Cornwall and PEI RCMP are seeking the public's assistance in identifying an individual responsible for the recent graffiti vandalism on public buildings.

Sometime on March 20 and again on March 24 two public buildings owned by the Town of Cornwall have fallen victim to acts of graffiti vandalism. This destructive behavior not only defaces these community buildings but also imposes significant costs on taxpayers for cleanup and repairs. Graffiti vandalism diminishes the aesthetic appeal of the Town, undermines community pride, and can foster a sense of insecurity among residents.

PEI RCMP are committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of our all communities we serve. We are calling upon residents to come forward with any information they may have regarding the individual or individuals responsible for these acts of vandalism.

"We urge anyone who has witnessed suspicious activity or has information related to these incidents to come forward," said Corporal David Weatherbie. "Your cooperation is vital in apprehending those responsible and preventing further damage in the community."

Members of the public are encouraged to contact PEI RCMP and can report these crimes online with our Anonymous Crime Reporting Tool at, by calling RCMP at 902-566-7112 or PEI Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) with any information they may have. Callers may remain anonymous, and any information provided will be treated with the utmost confidentiality.

"We are immensely grateful for the ongoing support of our community in addressing this issue," said Cpl. Weatherbie. "The Town of Cornwall, I know shares its deepest appreciation to those who come forward with information to aid in this investigation."
