Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes: woman charged with manslaughter

On November 25, 2024 at approximately 6:00 p.m., Spiritwood RCMP received a report of an assault on Pelican Lake First Nation.

Officers responded immediately and located an adult male with injuries described as serious in nature. The adult male was later pronounced deceased by EMS at the scene. He has been identified as 24-year-old Ryikis Bill from Pelican Lake First Nation. His family has been notified and victim services made available to them.

An adult female was arrested at the scene. The adult female and the victim were known to one another.

Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes took carriage of the investigation.

As a result of continued investigation, 20-year-old Zelda Bill from Pelican Lake First Nation has been charged with one count, manslaughter, Section 236(b), Criminal Code. She was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in North Battleford Provincial Court on November 27, 2024.

Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes continue to investigate.
