Assiniboia RCMP are currently on scene and investigating a collision between a school bus and SUV that occurred around 3:45 p.m. June 10, 2024 (today).

Initial investigation has determined the school bus and SUV collided at the intersection of two rural gravel roads approximately 6.5 kilometres south of Rockglen, Saskatchewan. As a result of the collision, the school bus rolled into the ditch. The investigation is in its preliminary stages – at this time we do not have details to provide regarding cause, etc., but we can say alcohol is NOT a factor.

The two adult male occupants – the driver and a passenger - of the SUV did not report any serious injuries to police.

The adult driver of the school bus had minor injuries. The school bus was transporting children from Rockglen School at the time of the collision and there were nine child passengers aged 16 and under. All nine children are being treated for various injuries – we do not have information about the number of children requiring hospital treatment and we do not have an update on their conditions right now.

The children's families have been notified and we're asking news partners to please respect their privacy at this time.
