Punnichy RCMP seize meth, cocaine, fentanyl, and cannabis during drug trafficking investigation

On April 19, 2024 at approximately 3:45 p.m., Punnichy RCMP received a report of potentially-armed individuals travelling in a vehicle.

Officers responded immediately. Punnichy RCMP located the suspect vehicle parked in front of a residence on George Gordon First Nation. Officers approached the vehicle, and as a result of investigation, located and seized approximately 14 grams of methamphetamine, approximately four grams of fentanyl, a machete, drug trafficking paraphernalia, and a sum of cash inside of it.

Two adult males and an adult female were arrested at the scene.

30-year-old Joshua Fayant from George Gordon First Nation is charged with:

  • two counts, possession for the purpose of trafficking, Section 5(2), Controlled Drugs and Substance Act;
  • one count, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, Section 88(2), Criminal Code; and
  • one count, fail to comply with probation order, Section 733.1(1), Criminal Code.

20-year-old Tylena Favel from Kawacatoose First Nation is charged with:

  • two counts, possession for the purpose of trafficking, Section 5(2), Controlled Drugs and Substance Act;
  • one count, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, Section 88(2), Criminal Code;
  • one count, resists/obstruct peace officer, Section 129(a), Criminal Code; and
  • 5 counts, fail to comply with release order condition, Section 145(5)(a), Criminal Code.

The other adult male arrested at the scene was later released without charge.

As a result of continued investigation, on April 20, 2024 Punnichy RCMP and Saskatchewan RCMP's Critical Incident Response Team executed a search warrant at a residence in Punnichy as part of a drug trafficking investigation.

Officers located and seized approximately 114 grams of methamphetamine, approximately 25 grams of cocaine, approximately 17 grams of fentanyl, over 100 grams of cannabis, drug trafficking paraphernalia, a crossbow, a throwing star, numerous knives, and a sum of cash.

An adult male and an adult female were arrested at the scene.

37-year-old Quentin Desjarlais from Punnichy is charged with:

  • three counts, possession for the purpose of trafficking, Section 5(2), Controlled Drugs and Substance Act;
  • one count, possession of cannabis for the purpose of selling, Section 10(2), Cannabis Act;
  • one count, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, Section 88(2), Criminal Code;
  • one count, unauthorized possession of firearm/prohibited weapon or restricted weapon, Section 91(3), Criminal Code;
  • six counts, possess weapon contrary to order, Section 117.01(3), Criminal Code;
  • one count, possession of property obtained by crime less than $5000, Section 354(1)(a), Criminal Code; and
  • three counts, fail to comply with release order, Section 145(5)(a), Criminal Code.

24-year-old Shaylon Mooswa from Punnichy is charged with:

  • three counts, possession for the purpose of trafficking, Section 5(2), Controlled Drugs and Substance Act;
  • three counts, possess weapon contrary to order, Section 117.01(3), Criminal Code;
  • one count, unauthorized possession of firearm/prohibited weapon or restricted weapon, Section 91(3), Criminal Code;
  • one count, possession of cannabis for the purpose of selling, Section 10(2), Cannabis Act; and
  • one count, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, Section 88(2), Criminal Code;
