The Manitoba RCMP's Major Crime Services has charged 29-year-old Ryan Howard Manoakeesick, of Carman, with five counts of 1st Degree Murder in relation to the deaths of five individuals who were located deceased on February 11, 2024, in three locations across southern Manitoba.
The deceased individual located on Highway 3, has been identified as the 30-year-old female common-law partner of the accused. The deceased children, located on Highway 248, have been identified as their children; a 6-year-old daughter, 4-year-old son and 2.5-month-old daughter.
The deceased individual located at the residence in Carman, was the 17-year-old niece of the 30-year-old deceased female.
All five victims lived together and were residents of Carman, Manitoba.
Officers are no longer on scene at the highway locations, but remain on scene at the residence in Carman.
Initial reports indicated a witness assisted in pulling the three young children from the burning vehicle, however in speaking with the witness, this is no longer accurate. Further information has revealed the suspect removed the children from the vehicle.
Autopsies are scheduled for today and tomorrow.

At approximately 7:30 am, on February 11, 2024, Carman RCMP responded to a report of a hit and run on Highway 3, approximately 6.5km south of Carman. When officers arrived, the body of an adult female was located just off the highway in a nearby ditch. She was pronounced deceased on scene.
At approximately 10:00am, Headingley RCMP received a call of a vehicle on fire on Highway 248, north of PTH 424 in the RM of Cartier. As officers were en route, a witness was able to pull three young children from the burning vehicle. All three children were declared deceased on scene.
A 29-year-old male at the scene of the vehicle fire was taken into custody.
The investigation continued and led officers to a residence in Carman, where the body of another female was located.
It is believed that the adult male in custody and all five deceased individuals are known to each other.
The five deaths are all considered suspicious.
