On June 7, 2024, at around 1:00 a.m, the Rankin Inlet RCMP located a deceased individual. The death was suspicious in nature, and the RCMP were able to identify a suspect and began searching for that individual. This lead the RCMP to issue a "shelter in place" alert.
The suspect was located, and additional alert updates were broadcasted. At around 10:30 a.m, arrested without incident. The Nunavut RCMP Major Crimes unit is taking over the investigation.
