Digby RCMP investigates home invasion

Digby RCMP is seeking information in relation to a home invasion that occurred in Weaver Settlement.

On June 6, shortly before 5:00 a.m., Digby RCMP responded to a report of a break-and-enter in progress on Old Yarmouth Rd. Upon arrival at the scene, RCMP officers learned that a man had forced his way inside the home, threatened a resident, then failed to steal a vehicle before fleeing on foot with a small amount of cash and food.

The resident, a 68-year-old Weaver Settlement woman, sheltered in a bathroom and did not suffer physical injuries.

The male suspect is described as black, approximately 5-foot-8. He was last seen wearing a camouflage coat or sweater, a mask and green rubber boots.

The investigation, led by Digby General Investigation Section with the assistance of RCMP Forensic Identification Services, remains ongoing.
