On July 13, 1984, the Yukon RCMP received a report of found human remains near the Takhini River, approximately 5km from Kusawa Lake. Analysis conducted by forensics anthropologists determined the remains to be from a Caucasian male, between 55-65 years old.
While the cause of death is unknown, it was estimated to have occurred between 1964 and 1974. Police suspect that the remains were submerged in Kusawa Lake or the Takhini River for a period of time prior to discovery. DNA had been extracted from the remains and uploaded to the National DNA Data Bank but, to this day, no match has been made.
Investigators spoke to residents in the area regarding local gravesites and missing persons but were unable to gather more information related to the man.
