A 22-year-old man from Eel River Dundee and a 40-year-old woman from Dalhousie, N.B. have been arrested following a drug trafficking investigation in the community.

In December 2022, the RCMP's Provincial Crime Reduction Unit (PCRU) and the New Brunswick Integrated Enforcement Unit (IEU) began an investigation into the trafficking of controlled substances in the northern area of the province.

On March 10, 2023, members of the RCMP PCRU, the New Brunswick IEU, the Northeast RCMP Community Crime Reduction Unit (CCRU), Police Dog Services, and Northeast district RCMP members executed search warrants at two residences in Eel River Dundee and a business in Dalhousie, New Brunswick. During the searches, police seized quantities of what are believed to be cocaine, crystal methamphetamine, fentanyl, Shady 8 pills, drug trafficking paraphernalia, a non-restricted firearm, ammunition, a crossbow, and cash. A 22-year-old man and 40-year-old woman were arrested at the scene of one of the residences involved in the search warrant.

Both individuals were released and are scheduled to appear in Campbellton Provincial Court on August 21, 2023.

This investigation was the result of a joint effort between the RCMP's Provincial Crime Reduction Unit (PCRU) and the New Brunswick Integrated Enforcement Unit (IEU). The New Brunswick IEU is made up of members from municipal police forces as well as RCMP officers and Justice and Public Safety officers in the province. These efforts aim to improve the coordinated response to the growing concerns of drugs, firearms, and organized crime within New Brunswick.

The Provincial Crime Reduction Unit includes police officers from the New Brunswick RCMP and Fredericton Police Force. Its efforts focus on disrupting and dismantling the trafficking of illegal drugs in our province, targeting those causing the most harm in our communities.

The public plays an important role in helping to reduce, prevent and solve crime, including the trafficking of illegal drugs. Anyone with information about, or who suspects, illegal drug activity in their neighbourhood is asked to contact their local police. Information can also be provided anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), by downloading the secure P3 Mobile App, or by Secure Web Tips at www.crimenb.ca.

The investigation is ongoing.
