Third man charged with first degree murder in connection with homicide

A 31-year-old man from Saint John, N.B., has been charged with first degree murder in connection with the homicide of a 26-year-old man, from Dieppe, N.B.

On June 25, 2023, at approximately 10 p.m., members of the Codiac Regional RCMP responded to a report that a man had been shot at a residence on Louis Street, in Dieppe. When police arrived at the scene, they located a 26-year-old man inside of the residence who was suffering from gunshot wounds. He was transported to hospital with what were believed to be serious, life-threatening injuries and later died in hospital. The victim was later identified as Jacob Wright.

On June 26, 2023, at approximately 1:30 p.m., as part of the ongoing investigation, members of the New Brunswick RCMP Major Crime Unit, Saint John Police Force Street Crime Integrated Enforcement Unit (IEU) and Emergency Tactical Services arrested a 29-year-old man in Saint John.

On June 27, Brandon Patrick LeBlanc appeared in Moncton Provincial Court and was charged with first degree murder. He was remanded into custody.

On July 5, at approximately 12:20 p.m., as part of the ongoing investigation, police arrested a 41-year-old man from Saint John.

On July 6, Adam Robichaud appeared in Moncton Provincial Court by way of tele-remand, and was charged with first degree murder. He was remanded into custody.

On July 19, police arrested a 31-year-old man from Saint John, N.B., who was on already on parole for unrelated matters at the time of the homicide. He was arrested at a correctional facility in Renous, with assistance from Correctional Service of Canada. This was the third arrest in this investigation, and no further arrests are anticipated.

On July 20, Kyle Smith-Kingsley was charged with first degree murder. He is scheduled to appear in Moncton Provincial Court on July 21 at 11 a.m.

The New Brunswick Integrated Enforcement Units are made up of members from the New Brunswick RCMP, as well as municipal police and Justice and Public Safety officers in the province. These efforts aim to improve the coordinated response to the growing concerns of drugs, firearms, and organized crime within New Brunswick.
