A black German Shepherd Police Service Dog is tracking on a snow-covered road.

Twenty-six-year-old Jayden Skinner of Piccadilly was arrested last night after he fled from Bay St. George RCMP on a stolen all-terrain vehicle (ATV). He was tracked and located by RCMP Police Service Dog Thor and was taken into police custody.

At approximately 8:00 p.m. last night, police received a report of a suspected stolen ATV operating on the Main Road in Piccadilly. Officers responded, located the ATV and attempted to stop it. The operator abandoned the ATV and fled from police on foot into a wooded area. RCMP Police Service Dog and his handler attended the scene, conducted a four-kilometer track over rugged terrain and located Skinner at a residence. He was arrested without incident. Officers confirmed that the ATV had been stolen from a nearby construction site.

Skinner, who was wanted for other outstanding charges, attends court today and is charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5000.00 and resisting arrest.

RCMP NL continues to fulfill its mandate to protect public safety, enforce the law, and ensure the delivery of priority policing services in Newfoundland and Labrador.
