Update-South Indian Lake RCMP investigating homicide

On March 6, 2023, Phillip Soulier, 50, of O-Pipon-Na-Piwin Cree Nation, was arrested and charged with Manslaughter in the homicide of a 47-year-old female on February 19, 2023.

He was remanded into custody.


On February 19, 2023, at approximately 9:50 am, South Indian Lake RCMP received a report from the community nursing station that a 47-year-old female, who had been seriously injured in an assault, was being transported to Winnipeg via medevac with life-threatening injuries.

Officers attended to the Nursing Station and spoke with family members who advised that the victim was at a residence located on Wasagan Road where it is believed she was assaulted.

On February 21, 2023, the victim succumbed to her injuries. Her death is being investigated as a homicide.

South Indian Lake RCMP, along with Major Crime Services and RCMP Forensic Identification Services, continue to investigate.
