On June 9, 2023, at approximately 8:35 am, Selkirk RCMP received a report of male who discharged a firearm at another male while at a rural residence in the RM of St. Andrews.
It was reported that the male attended the residence of an acquaintance. After a disagreement, the resident grabbed a firearm and shot it towards the male. He was not physically injured.
Officers obtained a search warrant for the residence, and on June 10, 2023, officers from Selkirk Detachment, the Crime Reduction Enforcement Support Team, along with the Emergency Response Team, executed the search warrant. This led to the temporary closure of Highway 9, which was re-opened shortly thereafter.
Officers seized a firearm and a pellet gun from the home.

Assault with a Weapon
Uttering Threats
Using a Firearm in the Commission of an Offence
Pointing a Firearm
Careless Use of Firearm
Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
He was remanded into custody.
RCMP continue to investigate.
