A 17-year-old person has been charged with first-degree murder following the death of 35-year-old Aaron Smarch on February 2, 2023.
This is the second person to be charged in connection to this incident.
Under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, the person cannot be identified. They made their first court appearance on February 9, 2023, in Whitehorse.
The investigation is ongoing and the RCMP continue to ask that anyone with information about the incident contact the Whitehorse RCMP Major Crime Unit at 867-667-5551.
