The RCMP-RNC Joint Forces Operation West (JFO West), has marked one year of operation in disrupting drug trafficking and organized crime on the west coast of the province, with many search warrants executed and many players in organized drug networks arrested and charged.
The team began operation in March of 2022. Between then and March 2023, officers of JFO West initiated multiple investigations, executed search warrants at 15 homes within the Deer Lake, Corner Brook and surrounding areas, and conducted a number of additional search and seizures. Twenty-four individuals were arrested and charged by JFO West, with a total of 71 charges laid, the majority being possession for the purpose of trafficking. Other charges were laid for firearms offences, weapons offences, possession of stolen property, possession of controlled substances and breaches of various court orders.
JFO West will continue its work to target prolific drug traffickers and networks on the west coast of the province and beyond that bring dangerous illicit drugs to communities.
If you are a resident on the province's west coast and you suspect there is drug trafficking in your neighbourhood, JFO West wants to talk with you. You can remain anonymous while speaking directly with a police officer by contacting the JFO West designated drug line at (709) 637-4221.
