RCMP investigating fatal motor vehicle collision

Guysborough County District RCMP is investigating a fatal collision that occurred on Hwy. 16 in Meaghers Hill.

On May 21, 2023, at approximately 5:30 p.m., Guysborough County District RCMP, fire and EHS responded to a report of a motor vehicle collision on Hwy. 16, Meaghers Hill.

RCMP officers learned that a pickup truck travelling north toward Antigonish and a car travelling south toward Guysborough collided at a slight curve on Hwy. 16 between Old Monastery Rd. and Reddys Hill Rd.

The driver and sole occupant of the car, a 74-year-old Larry's River woman, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The driver and sole occupant of the truck, a 50-year-old Havre Boucher man, sustained minor injuries.

RCMP Collision Reconstruction Services attended the scene; Hwy 16 was closed for approximately 10 hours and has since reopened.

There is no indication of drugs or alcohol being a factor in the collision; the investigation is ongoing.
