RCMP charge man with child pornography offences

The PEI RCMP Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit has charged a man with child pornography offences.

On November 16, 2022, as part of an ongoing investigation, the PEI RCMP ICE Unit, along with the assistance of the Major Crime Unit, executed a search warrant at a Charlottetown residence. RCMP officers safely arrested 68 year-old, Brian Gordon Martin he was later released, on strict conditions.

Martin has been charged with Possession of Child Pornography, Transmission of Child Pornography and Accessing Child Pornography. He will appear in Charlottetown Provincial Court on February 16, 2023 at 9 a.m.

The PEI RCMP Internet Child Exploitation Unit is specialized RCMP unit that investigates offences related to child exploitation across all of PEI. Over the last three years this Unit has investigated over 80 files. Every year, the number of reported cases this unit investigates is growing.

Parents are encouraged to vigilantly monitor their children's online activities. Police encourage youth to be cautious of whom they communicate with and what they share online. Cybertips.ca, Protectkidsonline.ca and Deal.org are excellent online resources for caregivers and youth to learn about online safety and many other topics relevant to today's youth.
