RCMP arrest man wanted on Canada-wide warrant for being unlawfully at large

The Codiac Regional RCMP has arrested Richard James Simmons, a 29-year-old man from Moncton, NB, who was wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for being unlawfully at large.

On June 28, 2022, he failed to return to his correctional facility, resulting in failure to comply with his release conditions and a Canada-wide warrant was issued for his arrest. He had been serving jail time for possession for the purpose of trafficking methamphetamine, possession of property obtained by crime and failing to comply with conditions from a probation order.

On December 21, 2022, members of the Codiac Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) arrested Richard James Simmons for being unlawfully at large. He remains in police custody and is scheduled to appear in Moncton Provincial Court on January 11, 2023.

The investigation is ongoing.
