Queens District RCMP charge man with Possession of Restricted Weapon, Uttering Threats

Queens District RCMP has charged a man following a report of a man threatening to harm or kill people on an ATV trail.

On May 7 at approximately 7:26 p.m., Queens District RCMP responded to a complaint of an armed man making threats to harm or kill numerous people on a trail between Brooklyn and Port Medway.

Officers learned that a man showed a firearm while threatening a group of people on ATVs then left the area.

On May 12, 2023, Queens District RCMP safely arrested thirty-year-old Michael Gerald Wentzell of Eagle Head at a hotel in Liverpool.

Wentzell is charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, uttering threats, unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm when knowing possession is prohibited, weapons possession contrary to order and three counts of failing to comply with the conditions of court release orders related to previous firearms offences. He is being held in police custody and is scheduled to appear in Bridgewater Provincial Court this afternoon.

The investigation is ongoing and Queens District RCMP is looking for the public's help to recover the firearm in Wentzell's possession during the incident.
