Ponoka RCMP investigate shooting

On May 4, 2023, at 2:56 a.m., Ponoka RCMP received a report of a shooting that occurred at or near 57 Avenue in Ponoka. Upon arrival, officers located a 39-year-old individual, a resident of Ponoka, with what appeared to be a gun shot wound. The victim was taken to hospital where they remain in critical but stable condition.

Although early in the investigation, RCMP believe this may have been a targeted attack.

Police believe that the suspect(s) were in a vehicle of unknown description.
