On February 14 around 11:00 p.m., Nipawin RCMP responded to a report of a break and enter to a residence in the community of Nipawin. It was also reported that someone may have been taken against their will, but this could not be immediately confirmed by investigators.
As a result of extensive investigation by Nipawin RCMP and RCMP General Investigative Section, a number of people have been arrested and charged, two have warrants for their arrest and two firearms have been seized by RCMP. This investigation is ongoing.
WANTED PERSONS
Nipawin RCMP is seeking the public's assistance to help locate the following individuals who have warrants for arrest and are charged in relation to this investigation:
- 27-year-old William Chaboyer from Cumberland House is charged with:
- 2 counts, kidnapping, section 279(1.1)(b) of the Criminal Code
- 2 counts, break and enter, section 348(1)(a) of the Criminal Code
William is described is being 5'8" tall, 175 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.
- 21-year-old Thorne McKay from Cumberland House is charged with:
- 1 count, break and enter, section 348(1)(a) of the Criminal Code
Thorne is described as being 5'10" tall, 150 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes.

OTHER ARRESTS AND CHARGES LAID
29-year-old Kurt Bloomfield from Nipawin was arrested and is charged with:
- 1 count, kidnapping, section 279(1.1)(b) of the Criminal Code
- 2 counts, break and enter, section 348(1)(b) of the Criminal Code
36-year-old Solomon Settee from Nipawin was arrested and is charged with:
- 1 count, kidnapping, section 279(1.1)(b) of the Criminal Code
- 2 counts, break and enter, section 348(1)(b) of the Criminal Code
25-year-old Clement Chaboyer from Nipawin was arrested and is charged with:
- 2 counts, kidnapping, section 279(1.1)(b) of the Criminal Code
- 2 counts, break and enter, section 348(1)(a) of the Criminal Code
Bloomfield and Settee have been remanded to appear in Nipawin Provincial Court on the morning of February 21, 2023. Clement will appear in Melfort Provincial Court via video on February 21, 2023.
