Update: Island Lake RCMP search for missing male

On November 10, 2023, at approximately 3:15 pm, the Garden Hill Search and Rescue Team advised Island Lake RCMP that the body of Harold Christopher Taylor was located near Wass Island.

An autopsy is being conducted.

The investigation continues.


On November 5, 2023, Island Lake RCMP received a report of a missing 42-year-old male from Garden Hill First Nation.

Harold Christopher Taylor was last seen on November 1, 2023, when it is believed he took his boat to Wass Island to get firewood.

When Harold failed to return, community members began searching Wass Island and the surrounding areas. Searchers located his boat abandoned, floating near the shoreline of another island. Since then the search has continued with search and rescue groups, boats and aircraft.

Today the RCMP Underwater Recovery Team (URT) will be attending the community to assist with the search.

Harold is 6'2", 220 lbs with black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a black toque, black parka and dark coloured ski pants.
