Update - Island Lake RCMP respond to shooting

Three people have now been arrested and charged in relation to this incident.

Trenton Harper, 23, is charged with Aggravated Assault, Discharge Firearm with Intent, Careless Use of a Firearm, and Using Firearm in the Commission of an Offence. He remains in custody.

In addition, two males, Trinity Wood, 27, and Dylan Knott, 31, are charged with Obstruction for entering a scene secured by First Nation Safety Officers in relation to this RCMP investigation and attempting to clean up. Both males remain in custody.

The 35-year-old male originally arrested was not charged in relation to this incident.

The victim remains in hospital.


On April 3, 2023, at approximately 12:35 pm, Island Lake RCMP received a report that a male had been shot in Wasagamack First Nation. The 27-year-old male victim was transported to the Nursing Station and then to Winnipeg hospital in stable condition.

Investigation led officers to a suspect, who was taken into custody at approximately 2:35 am. The 35-year-old male remains in custody.

The victim and the suspect are known to each other.

The investigation continues.
