News release

Halifax District RCMP has charged a man after he broke into a home and sexually assaulted a woman in Terence Bay.

On March 7, 2023, at approximately 6 a.m., Halifax District RCMP responded to a 911 call, on Harrie Dr. in Terence Bay, from a woman who advised that she had fled her home after a man, known to her, had broken in and sexually assaulted her while she was sleeping.

RCMP officers responded immediately and located the 58-year-old suspect at a nearby home, where he was safely arrested. RCMP officers learned from the victim that she had been sleeping when she awoke to the man standing beside her bed and touching her. The woman then locked herself in a bathroom, which the man eventually broke into, before she was able to flee her home and call 911.

Ian Edward Craig Warner, 58, of Terence Bay, has been charged with Sexual Assault, Break and Enter and Commit and Mischief. Warner was held in custody and will appear in Halifax Provincial Court later today.
