On March 4, 2023, Gilbert Woodhouse, 28, of Lake St. Martin First Nation was arrested and charged with Second Degree Murder in the homicide of a 34-year-old male on March 2.

He remains in custody. Police do not believe there are further suspects.


On March 2, 2023, at approximately 6:20 pm, Gympsumville RCMP received a report of an injured male at a residence in Lake St. Martin First Nation. Officers attended the residence and located an injured 34-year-old male. He was pronounced deceased at the scene. His death is being treated as a homicide.

Gympsumville RCMP, along with RCMP Major Crime Services and RCMP Forensic Identification Services, continue to investigate.
