Between June and September of 2023, Drumheller RCMP General Investigative Services (GIS), in conjunction with the Drumheller Institution, Correctional Service of Canada, have concluded a number of Controlled Drugs and Substance and Cannabis Act investigations relating to the seizure of drugs at the Drumheller Institution, located on Highway 9 in Drumheller.
On May 23, 2023, staff at Correctional Service Canada's Drumheller Institution located cannabis, which was seized by Drumheller RCMP. As a result of the investigation, Drumheller GIS have charged a 26-year-old individual with Possession of Cannabis for the purpose of unlawfully distributing it. Their court date will be Oct. 27, 2023, at Alberta Court of Justice in Drumheller.
On June 8, 2023, staff at Correctional Service Canada's Drumheller Institution located methamphetamine and cannabis, which was seized by the Drumheller RCMP. As a result of the investigation, Drumheller GIS have charged a 31-year-old individual with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Methamphetamine and Possession of Cannabis for the purpose of selling. Their court date will be Oct. 27, 2023, at Alberta Court of Justice in Drumheller.
On July 4, 2023, staff at Correctional Service Canada's Drumheller Institution located methamphetamine, which was seized by the Drumheller RCMP. As a result of the investigation, Drumheller GIS have charged a 34-year-old individual with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Methamphetamine. His court date will be Oct. 27, 2023, at Alberta Court of Justice in Drumheller.
On July 23, 2023, staff at Correctional Service Canada's Drumheller Institution located methamphetamine and cocaine, which was seized by the Drumheller RCMP. As a result of the investigation, Drumheller GIS have charged a 34-year-old individual with two counts of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking. Their court date will be Oct. 27, 2023, at Alberta Court of Justice in Drumheller.
On Aug. 5, 2023, staff at Correctional Service Canada's Drumheller Institution located methamphetamine, which was seized by the Drumheller RCMP and processed. As a result of the investigation, Drumheller GIS have charged a 32-year-old individual with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Methamphetamine. Their court date will be Oct. 27, 2023, at Alberta Court of Justice in Drumheller.
RCMP and the Correctional Service of Canada will continue to jointly investigate any and all offences in and near the institution.
