Update - On April 20, 2023, Dauphin RCMP executed a search warrant at a residence after their investigation led to the identification and charges against three suspects involved in a shooting in the early morning hours of April 20.

The search resulted in the seizure of four non-restricted firearms and several magazines that had apparently been modified into prohibited devices.

Storm Gabriel (19), Jayden Peters, (19), and a 15-year-old male, all from Dauphin, have been charged with numerous firearm-related offences in addition to other charges from previous firearm-related incidents in the city.

The two other youth were released without charge.

"These recent shootings have put the safety of everyone in the community at risk," said Superintendent Jeff Asmundson, West District Commander for the Manitoba RCMP. "Thanks to quick work by our officers, including Police Service Dog, Marook, we were able to quickly locate and apprehend these suspects along with several firearms."

The investigation remains ongoing.

Anyone with any information about this is asked to contact the Dauphin RCMP at 204-622-5020.

On April 20, 2023, at 1:35 am, Dauphin RCMP were attempting to locate a 15-year-old male youth who was wanted by police and believed to be in possession of a firearm.

It was at this time that officers, who were driving an unmarked police vehicle, observed the suspect, along with a 19-year-old male, exit a residence located on 5th Avenue NE in Dauphin.

The suspects, who were walking towards a parked vehicle, observed the unmarked police vehicle approaching and as it did, they turned around to walk the other way.

The suspects continued walking and then began to run. As the unmarked vehicle approached, the 15-year-old pulled out a firearm, while running, and shot at the vehicle. No injuries were reported.

The suspects fled to their residence and barricaded themselves inside.

Officers surrounded the home and provided containment until the RCMP Emergency Response Team (ERT) arrived and entered the home, where 5 suspects were taken into custody without incident.

The scene is currently being held as officers draft up a search warrant to legally enter and search the premise.

The suspects currently remain in police custody.

Dauphin RCMP continue to investigate.
