Update 2 - Cranberry Portage RCMP respond to possible kidnapping

Rory Thomas has been located in Sherridon by Cranberry Portage and Emergency Response Team officers. He was taken into custody without incident, where he remains. Charges are pending.


Angelica McKay has been safely located near Cold Lake, Manitoba. She was not physically injured. Rory Thomas is still at large, and RCMP continue to look for him.

Anyone with information is asked to call police immediately.


On July 4, 2023, just before 6:00 am, Cranberry Portage RCMP received a report of a possible abduction in Sherridon, Manitoba. It is believed that Rory Thomas, 29, of Thompson, abducted Angelica McKay, 29. Police believe McKay is in danger and that Thomas may be in possession of a firearm.

RCMP have a large police presence in the Sherridon area, as it is believed Thomas and McKay are still in the vicinity. However, it is possible that they could have travelled to Cranberry Portage or Flin Flon.

Police are asking the residents of all three communities to be on alert and call police immediately if they see anything suspicious.

The RCMP Emergency Response Team is arriving on scene to assist with the search.

Thomas is described as 6' tall and 196 pounds. He has short black hair and facial hair. He also has a large dragon tattoo on the left side of his face and tattoos over his eyes and cheeks.

McKay is described as 5'5" and 134 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. She sometimes wears glasses.
