News release

Following the report of an erratic driver, 32-year-old Timothy Blake and a 27-year-old woman were arrested at a traffic stop by Bay St. George RCMP on May 25, 2023.

On Thursday, Bay St. George RCMP stopped a vehicle on the Trans-Canada Highway following the report of an erratic driver. The driver of the vehicle was identified by a valid driver's licence. The male occupant did not produce a piece of identification and provided his identity verbally to police, which was also confirmed by the driver.

Following the traffic stop, investigators determined that a false identity had been provided and confirmed the identity of the passenger as Timothy Blake. Blake had two outstanding arrest warrants, one of which was for a charge of assaulting a police officer with a weapon.

The vehicle was located a short time later travelling in Stephenville, where it was stopped for a second time. The driver was arrested without incident for obstructing a police officer. Blake refused to exit the vehicle and locked the doors. He was removed from the vehicle and arrested.

The driver was released from custody and is scheduled to court at a later date to face a charge of obstruction.

Timothy Blake was held in custody and attends court today, charged with the following criminal offences:

  • Obstructing a police officer
  • Failing to comply with a probation order
  • Failing to comply with a release order

The investigation is continuing.
