Athabasca RCMP execute search warrant related to drug investigation

On Feb. 4, 2023, Athabasca RCMP, with the assistance of Desmarais RCMP, executed a search warrant at a residence in Calling Lake, Alta., subject to a detailed drug investigation.

As a result of the search, a quantity of drugs was seized, including hundreds of illicit pills and suspected methamphetamine. In addition, several weapons and a stolen vehicle were located and seized. Athabasca RCMP have arrested and charged 56-year-old individual, a resident of Calling Lake, Alta., with several offences, including:

  • Possession of a controlled substance
  • Possession of property obtained by crime

Following a judicial hearing, the individual was released on bail and is scheduled to appear in Athabasca provincial court in the coming weeks. This represents a significant seizure of drugs, weapons, and proceeds of crime that have been removed from our streets. The Athabasca RCMP will continue to target this activity in our efforts at crime reduction to ensure safer communities for the residents of Athabasca County, Alta., Calling Lake, and the M.D of Opportunity, Alta.
