Arrests in Watson Lake property crimes

Two people have been arrested related to several property offences in the Watson Lake, YT, area.

A series of property crimes have been occurring in Watson Lake over the last several days. Incidents of theft from vehicles, distraction thefts and trespass by night have been reported. Arrests have been made in relation to theft from vehicle incidents.

  • Jedine Medcalfe-Sterriah, age 31 of Whitehorse, has been charged with three counts of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime and has been released by the courts on conditions;
  • Allen Yaklin, age 30 of Whitehorse, has been charged with three counts of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime and one count of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm and has been released by the courts on conditions.

Both will make their next court appearance in Whitehorse on June 14, 2023.

The firearm associated to the charge of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm was recovered safely by police and is not belived to have been used in the commission of any property crimes.

The investigation into other incidents is continuing. Residents of Watson Lake are encouraged to ensure that their vehicles are locked when not in use and that any suspicious activity should be reported to police.
