Antigonish County District RCMP investigating fatal collision

Antigonish County District RCMP is investigating a fatal collision that occurred on Hwy. 104 in East Havre Boucher.

On January 10, 2023, at approximately 9:05 p.m., Antigonish County District RCMP, fire and EHS responded to a report of a collision on Hwy. 104 in East Havre Boucher. RCMP officers learned that a transport truck was travelling west on Hwy. 104, towards Antigonish, and a car was travelling east towards Cape Breton, when they collided.

The driver and sole occupant of the car, a 24-year-old West Bay Road man, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The driver and sole occupant of the transport truck, a 30-year-old Ontario man, suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to hospital by ambulance.

A collision reconstructionist is at the scene and the investigation is ongoing.

Hwy. 104 was closed for several hours but has since reopened.
