Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit investigate suspicious death

On July 16, 2023, Beaumont RCMP received a report of a missing person. 40‐year‐old Treasa Lynn Oberly, a resident of Beaumont, who had last been seen on July 14, 2023, at about 9 a.m., in the Beaumont area.

In an effort to locate her, RCMP, search and rescue and community volunteers conducted ground searches of local areas in south Beaumont beginning on July 22, 2023.

On July 24, 2023, Treasa Lynn Oberly was located deceased. The Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit have taken over the investigation and continue to investigate the circumstances of her death. Residents may see police in the neighbourhood in the coming days.

A 43-year-old individual, a resident of Beaumont, has been charged with one count of second-degree murder.

The 43-year-old individual has been taken before a justice of the peace and remanded in custody with a court appearance set for Aug. 3, 2023, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Leduc.
