Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit investigate homicide on Saddle Lake Cree Nation

On June 17, 2023, at 2:39 a.m., St. Paul RCMP received a report of a shooting at a residence on Saddle Lake Cree Nation. Upon arrival, officers located a deceased male outside of the residence. Officers ultimately located two other individuals with injuries who were transported to hospital in stable condition.

Although early in the investigation, RCMP believe that that all victims are related to the same targeted incident, and there is no ongoing risk to the public.

RCMP have confirmed that this incident is unrelated to a separate major incident that occurred in the community that same morning.

The Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit has taken carriage of the investigation.

RCMP believe that there are witnesses to these incidents and are asking those individuals to come forward.
