62-year-old man charged with first degree murder

A 62-year-old man from Sackville, New Brunswick, has been charged with first degree murder in connection with a homicide in the community.

On October 12, 2023, at approximately 4:15 p.m., members of the Sackville RCMP responded to a wellbeing check for an individual living at residence on King Street. When police arrived, they discovered the body of a deceased woman.

The New Brunswick RCMP's Major Crime Unit determined the woman's death to be a homicide.

At approximately 5:30 p.m. on the same day, a 62-year-old man turned himself in to the Antigonish RCMP detachment in Nova Scotia, and was subsequently arrested in connection with the investigation.

On October 13, 2023, Roger Crossman appeared in Moncton Provincial Court by way of tele-remand and was charged with first degree murder of Marlene Cheryl Crossman. He was remanded into custody, and was ordered to undergo a thirty-day psychiatric assessment. He is scheduled to return to court on November 9, 2023 at 1:30 p.m.

The investigation is ongoing.
